Ljubljana pilot will be conducted in a simulated driving environment consisting of a motion-based driving simulator with real car parts (seat, steering wheel and pedals) and a physical dashboard. The simulation is displayed on three 49” curved TVs ensuring a 145° field of view of the driving environment. The driving scenarios are developed in SCANeR Studio (AVSimulation, France) and contain a variety of different roads and environments. The simulated vehicle supports different levels of automation, L0 – L5.

The main goal of Ljubljana pilot is to develop and evaluate a multi-modal user interface for an automated vehicle which will convey alerts and messages to the driver about the vehicle's operational domain and safety. The interface will include multiple communication methods:

  • Visual: physical dashboard, LED straps, head-up display
  • Auditory: alerts based on mono and spatial sound
  • Tactile: special vibro-tactors on the seat providing also directional information

The selected prototype of the interface will be tested in different virtual driving environment, including also digital twin of AVLL grounds (BTC City) in Ljubljana. The picture bellow is showing real and virtual environment of the area.
