FRODDO is a pioneering research and innovation project funded by the European Union, designed to propel the evolution of connected and automated mobility (CCAM). With the rise of autonomous vehicle technologies, the need for integrated, fail-safe systems that can adapt to various environmental, traffic, and operational conditions has never been greater. FRODDO addresses this challenge by developing a comprehensive suite of methods and tools based on the principles of safe system design.

Our project employs cutting-edge AI, machine learning (ML), and advanced sensing technologies to create adaptable and secure operational design domains (ODDs). These ODDs are key to defining the safe operating conditions for automated vehicles, ensuring their seamless integration into diverse and complex road environments. Additionally, FRODDO leverages a federated digital twin environment that simulates real-world scenarios, allowing for the testing and validation of mobility solutions before they are deployed on the road.

By fostering close cooperation between public authorities, road operators, and industry, FRODDO aims to develop scalable and interoperable systems that enhance road safety, optimize traffic management, and support sustainable mobility.
